Due to COVID-19, the 2019/2020 Aberdeen AFA season has come to a premature end. A statement below has been released from the Aberdeenshire AFA regarding the vote that was put in place to determine the outcome of the current season.
All clubs have now voted in response to the two option ballot in respect of the current campaign.
The outcome is;
Option A – 37
Declare season completed as is. Cancel all remaining league and cup matches. No league winners, no promotion (unless local rule 3 is invoked) nor relegation. Season 20-21 begins on 1 August 2020 or nearest possible date thereafter.
Option B – 28
Declare season completed as is. Cancel all remaining league and cup matches. Final league positions determined by average points gained per match played. Promotion and relegation will apply (local rule 3 may be invoked). Any play-offs would take place before the start of next season.
Therefore, Option A carries most votes with a majority of 9.
This means Blackburn will remain in Division Two next season. A disappointing outcome as the club was on the verge of promotion to Division One, The lads will now need to focus on taking this seasons performance into next season and not only push for promotion but aim to be crowned Divison Two Champions.
